Motorcycle Paddock Stand Bobbins

Motorcycle paddock stand bobbins, also called swingarm spools, provide lifting points for a compatible rear stand. Getting the fit right means checking more than the bike's brand or the bolt diameter. Thread pitch, bolt length, mounting position and the stand's hooks all form part of a secure, usable setup.

Diameter and pitch must both match
The M6, M8 or M10 designation identifies the thread's nominal diameter. The pitch is a separate measurement. Oxford's Spinners range, for example, includes M8 versions with 1.0 mm and 1.25 mm pitches. Those specifications are not interchangeable simply because both say M8.
Use a fitment reference for your motorcycle's exact model and year, or establish the specification from the motorcycle manufacturer. A bobbin should not be forced into a mounting hole. If the thread information is uncertain, resolve it before fitting rather than choosing by appearance.
Check the complete mounting arrangement
Bolts and clearance
Confirm the required bolt length, spacers and washers as well as the thread. GBRacing's fitting guidance illustrates why model-specific details matter: one application uses different bolt lengths on the two sides to accommodate the original lower chain guard.
Stand engagement
The rear stand needs compatible fork or hook attachments that engage the bobbins correctly. Check its adjustment range and how both sides locate. A stand designed for another lifting method needs the appropriate manufacturer-approved arrangement.
Choose features after confirming fit
Fixed spools, rotating bobbins and extended designs offer different shapes and contact arrangements. Oxford's rotating Spinners use a bearing within the bobbin, but that feature does not make the thread or stand fit universal. Colour is a finishing choice once the mechanical specification is settled.
Follow the exact fitting instructions and tightening specification for the chosen parts. Do not transfer a torque figure from a similar-looking product. Check the installation and clearances before using the stand, following the motorcycle and stand manufacturers' guidance.
Build a matched lifting setup
Compare motorcycle paddock stands alongside the bobbins. If your bike has no suitable threaded mounting points, establish the correct alternative lifting method first. See garage equipment for the wider maintenance setup, or tyre warmers when preparing a track-day workspace.
Have the fitment details ready
Bring the motorcycle model, year and existing stand details when asking Moto Central about bobbins. A photograph can help explain the setup, but the thread specification still needs confirmation.
