Find an adventure motorcycle helmet for routes that mix road miles with time on the trails. Compare peaked designs from Arai, Shoei, LS2, Scorpion, HJC, Airoh and Spada, with different visor, ventilation and accessory arrangements. Start with how you actually ride, then choose the fit and configuration that suit your journeys.
How much of your ride is on the road?
Touring with occasional trails
Put visor operation, mist management and long-distance comfort near the top of your list. Check how the helmet works with your glasses and communication system. A peak is only one part of the decision when most of the journey is spent on tarmac.
Regular road and off-road changes
If you switch between a visor and goggles, compare the manufacturer's permitted configurations and the process for changing them. Check where you will carry removed parts, whether tools are needed and whether your preferred goggles fit the eye port.
Compare real examples from the range
The Arai Tour-X 5, Shoei Hornet ADV 06, LS2 Explorer Carbon and Scorpion ADF-9000 are examples to consider alongside HJC and Spada options. Each has a different fit and specification, so an adventure label should be the start of your comparison rather than the final decision.
Arai's Tour-X5 specification identifies a VAS-A Max Vision visor that can be removed without tools, while its peak uses a screw on each side. It also lists replaceable interior components and speaker pockets. Those details illustrate the practical questions to ask about any helmet you shortlist: how will you change the setup, maintain it and fit your everyday equipment?
Check the peak, visor and goggles together
Confirm whether the peak is adjustable or removable and use only the configurations allowed by the manufacturer. A peaked appearance does not guarantee that a helmet accepts every goggle frame or that the visor can close over goggles.
Try the goggles you plan to use. Check the seal around the face, clearance at the nose and how the strap sits on the shell. If the visor is removed, keep its fasteners and covers together and follow the refitting instructions before the next road section.
Consider the view from both seated and standing riding positions. Your motorcycle's screen, your height and your riding posture are also reasons to assess comfort for your own setup rather than expecting every rider to experience a helmet in the same way.
Plan for weather and longer distances
Check which vents can be closed, whether a compatible anti-fog insert is included and how the lining is removed for cleaning. If you want an internal sun visor, confirm it in the specification; not every adventure helmet has one. Use the exact model reference for replacement visors and Pinlock inserts.
For navigation audio or group communication, compare intercom systems before purchase. Speaker pockets are a starting point, but the mounting method and microphone still need to suit the helmet.
Adventure, motocross or a road helmet?
If you primarily want a goggle-based off-road setup, compare motocross helmets. For road riding where you do not need a peak, look through full-face helmets. If opening the front at stops is important, investigate flip-front designs and the approval of their opening positions.
Keep the full model name when comparing. The catalogue includes different generations within some helmet families. Confirm the approval, parts and features of the exact listing rather than transferring a newer model's specification to an older version.
