Alpinestars Tech-Air
Tech-Air is a family rather than one universal system. Tech-Air 3 V2 is aimed at road use and has standard, Canvas, Leather and women-specific versions here. Tech-Air 5 Plasma and Tech-Air 10 V2 Race have different coverage, intended use and inflator arrangements. Alpinestars publishes separate manuals and replacement-canister instructions for each generation, so the words “Tech-Air” alone are not enough to establish compatibility.
Dainese D-air
Dainese products in this collection include the Smart Air vest, an airbag-equipped textile jacket and the Misano 3 D-air women’s leather suit. A standalone Smart Air vest can be worn over or under suitable clothing as directed by Dainese, while an integrated D-air garment is selected and fitted as a complete piece of protective clothing. Held eVest
Held eVest 2 and eVest Clip-in products use an In&motion In&box platform, but their garment fit and installation differ. A clip-in product should only be paired with a jacket specifically approved for that mounting arrangement. Held also publishes its own cleaning and maintenance requirements, which remain relevant even where the electronic module comes from In&motion.
Airbag fit and setup checklist
- Choose the intended use: road, commuting, touring and race products can use different detection modes and garment constructions.
- Allow the specified expansion space: follow the system manual when wearing a vest beneath a jacket or a race system beneath leathers. Do not rely on ordinary jacket size alone.
- Check the complete package: confirm whether the In&box, inflator, charger, activation belt or other required component is included.
- Set up before riding: complete any registration, app connection, activation, firmware update or riding-mode selection required for that model. Check its status indication each time.
- Read the post-deployment procedure: some systems accept a user-replaceable inflator after the specified checks; others require authorised inspection or servicing. Never fit a canister from a different family.
- Review the garment specification: an airbag system does not make every outer jacket or suit identical. Abrasion classification, conventional protectors, waterproofing and ventilation remain product-specific.
