From Bindings to Accessories (1988)
The roots of SP Connect stretch back to 1988 in Germany, when Thomas Krenn founded a company producing snowboard bindings. Over time, that business evolved, and its capabilities in tool design, injection moulding, and precision engineering laid the foundation for future innovations in mounting systems.
Building the SP United Group
As the business expanded, the parent company SP United Holding AG brought together multiple brands including bindings, camera accessories and mounting solutions. They established headquarters in Vienna, where sales, design, engineering and international operations were coordinated. The German facility remained central, specialising in tooling and manufacturing.
Launching the SP Connect System (2016)
In 2016, SP Connect rolled out its trademark mounting system. The core of this innovation was the Phone Case with an integrated twist‑to‑lock mechanism. That locking system enabled fast, secure mounting ideal for motorcycles, bicycles, cars or outdoor gear. It soon became the heart of a full ecosystem of mounts, accessories and compatibilities.
Manufacturing and Quality Control
While much of the production is done in China, SP Connect retains strong in‑house design and quality oversight from its German engineering roots. Tooling, plastics work and the production chain are deeply integrated so that precision remains part of the brand promise.
Versatility in Use
SP Connect didn’t just cater to motorcycles. Because of its modular system, riders could carry the same mounting mechanism across disciplines bikes, cars, boats or just daily life. The line grew to include mounts for handlebars, mirrors, forks, stems and more, with accessories that expand functionality.
Reputation and Reach
Today, SP Connect is distributed in over 70 countries. It is known for its reliability, modular systems and rider‑friendly innovation. Many motorcycle riders trust it for mounting phones securely in demanding conditions.
