An Idea Sparks on a Road Trip (2006)

In 2006, two young riders, Michael and Kai, returned from a long tour on Harley‑Vrods. They loved riding, but they were not happy with the motorcycle jeans available. They thought they were ugly and did not meet their needs for safety or style. The idea emerged: why not design abrasion‑resistant jeans that look good and protect well?

Turning Denim into Protection

They reached out to a nearby textile expert and got hold of abrasion‑resistant fabric. They tried having tailors combine that material with favourite jeans, but early attempts failed fabric was too tough, needles broke, and stitching wouldn’t hold. Then they met a trainee tailor who took up the challenge and succeeded. Barely before the end of 2006, they had their first pair of riding jeans that looked like regular denim but offered serious protection.

Believe in the Idea, Even When Many Doubt

At trade fairs and from retailers they heard “too expensive,” “won’t sell,” and “you are crazy.” But Michael and Kai believed in their vision. They produced a small initial batch just a few hundred pairs and sold them. The price tag was high for jeans at that time, but the craftsmanship, protection and look won over early customers. Their high‑end presentation jeans presented in wooden boxes also made buyers feel they were owning something special.

Growing with Quality and Authenticity

As Rokker grew, the founders stuck to their original values: high quality, European production, authentic style. Their range expanded from jeans into leather products, boots, bags, belts and more. The idea was not just to look good, but to feel good, to deliver protection and comfort, and to appeal to those who ride hard and want gear that reflects passion.

Forward Thinking and Riding Culture

Over time Rokker tuned in to younger audiences and wider riding cultures skate, surf, downhill biking, BMX and developed lines that were lighter, more affordable, trendier, while still offering protection. They created a sub‑line for “riding culture” which include shirts, hoodies and lighter riding pants designed to move well, look great and serve real riders.
