Founding and Early Years
Richa’s story began in 1952 when Charles Rigaux started producing premium leather gloves for motorcyclists in Oudenaarde, Belgium. His dedication to quality and passion for motorcycling quickly earned the brand a loyal following. By 1956, Richa had evolved into a dedicated motorcycle apparel brand, with Charles’ vision later carried forward by his son, Luc Rigaux. Remaining family-owned into its second and third generations, the company built its reputation on quality, comfort, and durability.
Expanding the Range
Over the years, Richa grew beyond gloves, introducing jackets, trousers, boots, and protective gear. A major milestone came in 2005 when Belgian police forces adopted Richa equipment, a strong endorsement of the brand’s protective performance. That same year, Richa began incorporating D3O® armour into its garments, further cementing its commitment to rider safety.
Innovations in Weather Protection
Richa’s focus on advanced materials led to a partnership with Gore™, introducing GORE-TEX® technology to its products. Gloves were certified for GORE-TEX® in 2011, and by 2015, the licence extended to the full apparel range. This innovation gave riders waterproof, breathable gear designed for all-weather performance.
Global Growth
From 2014 to 2021, Richa expanded rapidly, exporting to over 40 countries and becoming a recognised name in both European and global markets. Today, the product line includes leather and textile jackets, GORE-TEX® rainwear, adventure touring gear, and protective denim, showcasing decades of design and engineering expertise.
