Merlin Bike Gear was launched in 2012 by five riders, each bringing over 30 years of motorcycle-industry experience. Operating from a modest barn conversion in Birmingham, they created their first collection with a singular goal: to craft riding apparel that looked as good as it performed, while remaining affordable and authentic.
Early Hustle and Spirit
In those early days, the team tackled every challenge themselves. They packed orders in snow-laden car parks, sourced fabric from leaky warehouses, and used every corner of the barn as a temporary warehouse. Their dedication paid off as demand from riders outgrew expectations almost overnight.
Power Through Partnerships (2014)
In 2014, Merlin started working with industry leaders to elevate their fabric and technology offerings. Their licences included prestigious names from waxed cotton manufacturers to innovation specialists in thermal regulation and impact armour. These collaborations helped shape the brand’s heritage, leisure and touring collections with style and substance.
Taking on the World (2016)
Merlin made its international debut at a major motorcycle fair in Germany. The response was overwhelming for a UK brand of that size orders came in from more than a dozen countries before they’d even left the venue. That moment marked the brand’s shift from local favourite to global contender.
Scaling with Style (2017)
By 2017, Merlin was ready for the next level. Increased demand led to expanded warehousing space and the launch of a purpose-built international showroom. These improvements allowed the brand to grow while preserving its rider-first design philosophy.
