Born from Rider Needs (2000)
Kriega was launched in 2000 by two British designers who were also passionate motorcyclists. They saw that there was nothing on the market that truly met the needs of riders for durable, functional soft luggage. From day one, their ambition was to design luggage built for biking no compromise on performance, in materials or construction.
Building the First Rider‑Specific Packs
At the start, there were no motorcycle‑specific backpacks that held up to real riding conditions. Kriega’s first model changed that in one bold move. They introduced a harness system called Quadloc™, built from aircraft‑grade aluminium adjusters, made to keep packs stable at speed and comfortable over long distances.
A Function‑Driven Brand
From its origins, Kriega decided not to chase fashion trends. Instead the brand focused entirely on utility and longevity. Every stitch, strap and buckle is selected with purpose. Reliability became part of the brand promise: “guaranteed to last a decade of hard riding.” Many original packs remain in use years later a testament to their build quality.
Growth, Reputation and Reach
Kriega grew slowly but with strong intent. Early marketing consisted of sending prototypes to motorcycle journalists and long‑distance riders, letting performance speak for itself. Over time, Kriega became a benchmark in motorcycle soft luggage. The brand remains independent, with its founders deeply involved in design and production decisions.
Legacy in Carrying Innovation
Today, Kriega is widely respected across the adventure and touring community. Their modular luggage systems, waterproof bags, tool kits and harnesses are used by riders traversing every terrain. Their base in Wales remains symbolic a place of extreme weather and demanding roads that push both rider and gear to the limit.
