These boots feature a two-boot design that manages to meet all the protection and comfort needs a rider could ever have. The inner boot is purposefully designed to offer high-quality ankle support. Its construction is made up of a combination of microfiber and TPU plastic.
The microfiber fabric is moisture-wicking, helping to draw moisture away from the foot and towards the outer boot where ventilation takes care of drying out the liquid. TPU plastic is used to encase the heel and ankle, providing a wide surface area through which impact can be dispersed. Articulated parts further add to this bracing, helping to prevent hyperextension of the ankle joint.
This inner boot slips easily into the outer boot, though some effort is needed to ensure the heel cupping sits correctly within the corresponding cupping in the outer boot. Once correctly inserted, the inner boot sits very comfortably. Lighter materials are similarly used for the outer boot as it does not need components for ankle bracing. The sole is thin but with a good rubbery grip that makes foot control on the peg easy.
Microfiber is again used in the construction of the outer shell. Its flexibility and abrasion resistant qualities make it well able to keep up with the rider's motions. Some TPU armour is strategically placed in high impact areas like the heel and upper shin. Aluminium toe sliders offer more durability and comfort and are replaceable.
Ventilation is provided by a honeycomb pattern of holes around the ankle and vents at the back. Riders also get to avoid the problem of blisters from their boot rubbing against their foot. With the Supertech R boots, this friction is redirected between the inner and outer boots in high abrasion areas.
The aesthetic of the outer boot is much the same as what you see with Alpinestars other motorcycling boots. They come in a variety of attractive colour combinations.
