Though unlikely to see mass production, the Triumph Daytona Moto2 765 still manages to impress with its quality build, keen detailing, and excellent performance on the road and track. When it comes to aesthetics, this model very much resembles the Daytona 675R. Perhaps not inspiring, but certainly dependable.
The Triumph Daytona is equipped with a 765cc inline three-cylinder with high compression pistons, titanium inlet valves, new intake trumpets and modified crank and con rods. While not as powerful as other 1000cc superbikes in the same price category, it does register a decent top speed of 152 mph with a maximum power of 126 bhp and torque of 58.6 ft-lb.
It also comes with a huge catalytic converter for the more environmentally conscious and a titanium Arrow end can that lets you rev without waking up the neighbourhood. The Daytona comes with five rider modes. They vary in terms of power, ABS, and traction control, allowing riders to choose settings most conducive to their riding conditions. The full TFT instrument display may be somewhat small but is clearly visible at a glance.
Its superbly nimble steering, excellent clearance, and wonderful grip from its Pirelli Supercorsa SP tyres make it a dream to handle in both dry and wet conditions. Its tight construction does not however favour long jaunts on this superbike for the more height endowed.Rider donning a Shark Full-face Helmet
Despite its quick acceleration –10.92 secs by the ¼ mile - it offers reasonable average fuel consumption of 50 mpg. Its Brembo Stylema 4-piston radial monobloc callipers and switchable ABS provide plenty of stopping power when needed, with extra ventilation channels to its pads to prevent overheating.
When it comes to hardware, this bike features heavier and stronger parts than its Moto2 racer. This durability must be to appeal to the consumer market that calls for warranties and is being balanced out by the more lightweight carbon fibre bodywork.
