The ROOF RO9 Boxxer Twin in Black / Red is the earlier ECE 22.05 generation of ROOF's distinctive 180-degree flip-up motorcycle helmet. Its chin bar rotates to the rear of the shell for an open-face configuration and returns to the front for full-face riding, combining the compact profile of a jet helmet with the coverage of a full-face design.

This Twin colourway uses a fibreglass multi-composite shell with progressive-density impact-absorbing material and a fully removable comfort lining. ROOF's automatic twin-side chin-bar locks and sequential one-handed release make the change between configurations controlled and straightforward. The helmet is P/J dual approved under ECE 22.05 for use with the chin bar open or closed, although ROOF recommends the full-face position for optimum protection.

Why choose the RO9 Boxxer?

The original RO9 Boxxer is designed for riders who value a genuine 180-degree modular layout. With the chin bar rotated fully behind the shell, its weight and aerodynamic profile remain balanced rather than leaving the bar raised above the forehead. Returning the bar to the front engages two automatic locks, one on each side.

The visor ventilation controls direct air either across the inside of the visor for demisting or towards the rider's face. A separate chin-bar extractor supports airflow through the lower section. This gives the rider several simple ways to manage ventilation without making unsupported claims about complete fog prevention in every condition.

Comfort and fit

The comfort lining can be removed for careful hand washing with mild soap and should be allowed to dry naturally away from direct heat. Supplied foam inserts fit into pockets at the sides of the crown lining, allowing small adjustments to the internal volume. Different cheek-pad thicknesses are available separately through ROOF dealers where a more specific fit adjustment is required.

A motorcycle helmet must fit firmly and evenly without painful pressure points. Measure around the widest part of the head, normally just above the eyebrows and ears, then use the ROOF chart as a starting point. The intermediate SM size is intentional and sits between S and M.

Moto Central recommends trying the helmet on where possible. Our team can help assess crown shape, cheek pressure and stability, not simply the number on the size label.

Supplied with the helmet

  • Anti-scratch and anti-fog treated visor
  • Protective helmet bag
  • Additional comfort-adjustment foams
  • Removable windguard
  • ROOF Allen-key keyring for the chin-bar screws

Replacement visors, alternative cheek pads and other accessories are not included unless shown separately in the product options.

Certification, care and warranty

This RO9 Boxxer belongs to ROOF's previous ECE 22.05 BOXXER family and should not be confused with the later ECE 22.06 BOXXER 2. The approval marking and individual serial information are found on the white label sewn to the chinstrap.

ROOF specifies a three-year manufacturer warranty for this helmet generation. An additional one-year extension, giving up to four years in total, can be activated through ROOF's official website within 30 days of purchase, subject to ROOF's registration requirements and warranty terms. Keep the purchase invoice and supplied documentation.

Use only warm water and mild soap for cleaning. Solvents, fuel and harsh chemicals can damage the shell, visor and impact-absorbing materials. Any helmet that has sustained an impact should be replaced, even when no damage is visible.

ROOF RO9 Boxxer Twin questions

Can the helmet be worn with the chin bar open?

Yes. It carries P/J dual approval for open-face and full-face configurations. ROOF nevertheless recommends the closed full-face position for optimum protection.

How does the chin bar unlock?

Press the two red side release buttons sequentially. Once both locks are released, the chin bar can rotate through 180 degrees to its rear open-face stop.

Does the helmet use a double-D fastening?

No. This BOXXER generation uses a micrometric ratchet buckle.

Which product-code family applies to this colourway?

Moto Central size-specific SKUs for this Black / Red version use the RO012726 family. Select the required size to see its exact SKU and barcode.
