The Alpinestars Tech-Air® 3 V2 Leather System is a premium leather motorcycle airbag vest for road riders who want autonomous chest and back protection without a tether or motorcycle-mounted sensors. It can be worn over a riding jacket or beneath a compatible jacket with enough room for airbag inflation, making it suitable for touring, commuting, V-Twin riding and weekend use.

Alpinestars states that the inflated airbag can reduce impact energy transferred to the rider by up to 95% in the areas it covers. No airbag can prevent every injury, so the system should be used as part of a complete set of correctly fitted motorcycle protective clothing.

The electronic control unit and electronics enclosure are waterproof. Alpinestars does not describe the softened leather outer vest itself as a waterproof garment.

Fit and sizing

This listing is available in XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL and 4XL. The Shopify XXL variant corresponds to Alpinestars' 2XL label. Choose the size for how you intend to wear the system and make sure an outer jacket leaves sufficient expansion room without restricting the airbag. For an under-jacket setup, check both garments together before riding.

Moto Central can help with fit and compatible-jacket checks at our Hinckley showroom. A secure, comfortable fit is important, but the system must not be compressed or obstructed.

Servicing and care

• Gas inflator housed at the rider's lower-left back
• Removable inflator housing, wiring and airbag assembly support servicing
• Inflator canisters can be replaced by selected Alpinestars dealers and certified Tech-Air® Service Centres
• The leather vest is not washable; clean it only with a damp cloth and follow the user manual
• Inspect and service the system after a deployment as directed by Alpinestars

Common questions

Does the Tech-Air 3 V2 Leather need a tether?
No. It is an autonomous electronic airbag system and does not need a tether or sensors fitted to the motorcycle.

Can it be worn under a motorcycle jacket?
Yes, provided the jacket is compatible and leaves enough room for the airbag to inflate. It can also be worn over a riding jacket.

Is the leather vest waterproof?
Alpinestars specifies sealed waterproof electronics, but does not market the leather chassis itself as a waterproof garment.

Is a conventional back protector included?
The airbag supplies certified full-back protection when deployed. A pocket is provided for an optional passive back protector, which is sold separately.

Can the system be washed?
No. Alpinestars instructs owners to wipe the vest with a damp cloth and consult the user manual for maintenance.
